Welcome to the Summer Term!
After the relaxing Easter break, we are now looking forward to the Summer Term and all the exciting things we will be learning.
Our topic, this term, is all about the seaside. In history, we will be learning about seaside holidays in the past and comparing them to present day seaside holidays. In geography we will continue this learning as we look at the human and physical features at the seaside. Our first English narrative unit is entitled 'The Train Ride' and is all about a young girl taking a train ride to the seaside.
Our maths lessons will begin with work on fractions and measurement before returning to number work. The topic for science lessons is Plants and we have already set some seeds and are eagerly waiting to see if they grow. Fingers crossed! In PE, we begin the term with Tiny Rugby and Boot Camp before moving to Active Athletics and Brilliant Ball Skills. RE lessons will see us looking at the religion of Hinduism.
This term we are particularly excited because we have Forest School sessions to look forward to as well as Beach School sessions. These will provide us with even more opportunities to take our learning outside and hopefully, make the most of the warmer weather!
PE days are Mondays and Tuesdays although we sometimes make the most of the outdoors and put in additional lessons.
We continue to encourage the children to read, both in school and at home, as this has a huge impact on their progress in reading, writing and speaking. Every child who reads 5 times or more in a week, will have their name entered into the reading raffle and the chance to win a book. Children also earn Karate Reading wrist bands and badges for their efforts in reading.
We look forward to working with you all throughout the term and thank you for your continued support.
