We hope you've all had a relaxing Easter break and are ready for your final term at The Mayflower Primary School.
We know that SATs will be at the front of your minds at this time but would like to remind you that it is just a snapshot of your abilities during one week of your lives. It does not measure the incredible amount of effort and maturity each and every one of you has shown over the past few months. That said, we would like to encourage you all to do your best during these tests and to use the resources available to you to support your learning and understanding of those subjects being tested.
This term we will be using the topic 'Lights! Camera! Action!' to frame our learning.
In English we will begin our writing with a setting description and continue using the Hooked on Books scheme to support our reading.
In Maths we will be looking closely at worded problems and unpicking how to answer them fully, as well as revision key areas.
Our Art focus this term (as part of our topic) will be the artist Walt Disney. We will be looking at his drawings and exploring the art of animation using a range of techniques.
During Geography we will be using ordnance survey maps and using the symbols and structures to plot our own maps of Dovercourt.
Our first Science topic will be 'Living Things and their Habitats' where we will be classifying a range of living organisms.
In PSHE we will be looking at the risks that our local area might pose and how to navigate those successfully. We will continue to think about our mental health and wellbeing and use strategies to be 'mindful' of ourselves and our emotions. There will be links with RE where we will consider how to develop our own spirituality and look at the different ways a range of religions supports this.
PE will be focusing on athletics and team games when the weather allows and dance and yoga during the times we need to remain indoors.
