Pupil Premium
What is the Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is extra funding given to schools in England to help reduce inequalities between disadvantaged children and their peers. It helps us make sure that every child, whatever their background, can achieve their full potential.
Our Commitment
At Mayflower Primary School, we believe every child deserves the best start in life. We use Pupil Premium funding to provide extra support for pupils who may face barriers to learning, helping them to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our goal is simple — to ensure all pupils feel confident, valued, and supported.
How We Use The Funding
We use the Pupil Premium to provide:
-
Targeted teaching support in the classroom.
-
Specialist interventions for speech, language, and communication needs.
-
Emotional and well-being support for children and families.
-
Extra staff training to help deliver the best possible teaching and care.
We also focus on developing pupils’ confidence, resilience, and aspirations — helping them take pride in their learning and achievements.
Our Support Team
To meet our pupils’ needs, we have:
-
A dedicated PPG Champion - Ms. A. Larue
-
A full-time Speech and Language Support Assistant - Mrs. Knight
- A full-time Welfare and Safeguarding Officer - Mrs. Tallowin
-
Two Parental Liaison and Children’s Emotional Support Assistants - Mrs. Smith and Ms. Parker
-
A qualified counsellor offering additional emotional support
This dedicated team works closely with children, families, and outside agencies to make sure every pupil feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Working Together
We believe that by working in partnership with families, we can help every child at Mayflower Primary School reach their full potential — both in the classroom and beyond.
