Our Ethos and Values

At Mayflower Primary School in Harwich, we are proud to be a warm, welcoming community where children and families feel supported, valued and inspired. Guided by our core virtues — Community, Honesty, Ambition, Independence, Respect and Resilience — we nurture the whole child, celebrating academic success while placing equal importance on wellbeing, confidence and personal growth. Our dedicated pastoral team, including PLACES (Parental Liaison and Children's Emotional Support), SALSA (Speech and Language Support Assistant), Welfare Safeguarding Officer, Attendance Officer and school counsellor, works closely with families to ensure every child receives the care and support they need to thrive. Beyond the classroom, we offer a rich programme of extra-curricular opportunities, from visits to local care homes that foster empathy and community connection, to a wide range of clubs and sporting experiences — including attending live events at London’s Copper Box Arena — supported by two dedicated sports coaches who promote active participation and healthy lifestyles. Together, we create a safe, happy environment where children feel known, encouraged and ready to succeed both in school and beyond.
