Using the Essex SACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education) resources, we have adopted and developed our own RE syllabus which we feel caters for the needs of our pupils and community. Through RE we aim to enable children to understand the nature of religion, its beliefs and practices.

Withdrawing your child from all or part of Religious Education

Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child, wholly or partly, from:

• Receiving religious education given in the school in accordance with the school's curriculum
• Attendance at religious worship in school

Parents and carers should, in the first instance, request a meeting with the Headteacher to discuss our Religious Education curriculum so that an informed decision can be made.

All requests should be in writing to the Headteacher.
