On Friday 1st May 2026, The Mayflower entered two teams into the HSA Outdoor Hockey event. After opening with a narrow 1:0 defeat to All Saints: Harwich, our A team won their subsequent 3 group match to achieve 2nd place and proceeded through to the semi-finals. After beating a strong Spring Meadow team they progressed to the final - where they once again played All Saints. With neither team managing to score in ‘normal time’ the game went to extra time. Directly from the centre, Stanley Haveron and Leah Kirk ‘linked up’ to bring the trophy home - for the third consecutive year. Unfortunately, our B team didn’t manage to progress from their initial group - coming 3rd. However, achieving 3 draws and 1 win in their four group matches, they were the only unbeaten team in the tournament. All 7 players can leave with their heads held high - many of whom will be able to come back next year.
This event is a ‘Mayflower Favourite’ and we can’t wait to come back next year. Fingers crossed we can make it 4 out of 4 : ) A huge thank you to Chase Lane (and Mr Barrett) for hosting.
