We are learning to write effective sentences for an alternative version of a story.  Using traditional fairy tales, we will be exploring and writing our own alternatives.  We will include in our writing: time/place adverbials, adjectives, complex sentence, comparatives/superlatives, similes, metaphors and dialogue

In line with the homework,  please ensure that you hear your child read at least four times a week and record it in their reading journal.  In year three, the focus is comprehension, ensuring that the children understand what they are reading using inference skills and prediction.

Initially, we will be revising all last terms spellings which focused on words with prefixes and suffixes.  New spellings will be given as part of homework every Friday.  The children will have a full week of learning those spellings at home and exploring the spelling rules during lesson time.  The children will then be tested the following Monday.
